ABSTRACT
This study was designed to examine the impact of ICT on the teaching of Social Studies in Junior Secondary School in Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja FCT. A survey research design was adopted for the study while a simple random technique was used to select one hundred (100) respondents which include the teachers and student of Social Studies that constituted the sample size for the study. The main instrument used for the study was questionnaire and the data collected were analyzed using frequency counts, mean and percentage. The finding revealed that ICT facilities are not frequency and regularly used in the teaching of Social Studies due to lack of ICT facilities in the study area and the improper maintenance and operation of ICT operation of ICT facilities, as a result the teaching of Social Studies. Based on this, the study recommends among others that government should provide adequate ICT facilities and Internet service in Junior Secondary School for easy access to teachers and students. Regular training, workshops and seminar should be organized for Social Studies teachers in Junior Secondary School on the application of ICT in the teaching of Social Studies as to improve students’ performance in the subject and any other related subjects.
